The Linux Mint 4.0 Live CD doesn't ask for a password. If you've reached a stage where you're asked for a username and password then you're well into the Install process. You shouldn't be there.

it does ask for a user name and password just type anything and it will work , also how can he be well into the install if he just booted from the cd it takes at least 10 mins to install ?

I apologize, I'm out of my depth in this conversation. My Linux Mint 4.0 Live CD goes from power-on to a fully visible online active Mint desktop without me once touching the keyboard or the mouse at all. Only if I invoke the Install process does it ask me to enter a username and password. Perhaps we're downloading different Mint versions from the server.

It's ok now, i got the Live cd working, but i cant find a driver for my wireless on my macbook

  1. sudo aptitude install build-essential
  2. wget -c http://snapshots.madwifi.org/madwifi...current.tar.gz
  3. tar -zxf madwifi-trunk-current.tar.gz
  4. cd madwifi-ng-*
  5. make
  6. sudo make install
  7. sudo modprobe ath_pci
  8. sudo modprobe wlan_scan_sta

Can you explain that to me?
