after a day of research i think i have narrowed down the distro's of linux i would like to run ubuntu kububtu mandriva fedora now i have a few questions what would be the best for me, i would like speed, good lucks and alot of customization, my computer is a large glowing neon buss and i would like to be the driver not a passenger. also i have seen linux gamers edition ect what are these? are these just skins or are they different editions My System: Cewy's wonder macine

Try OpenSUSE/PCLinuxOS/Ubuntu. All have Gnome and KDE desktops (kubuntu=ubuntu+KDE) as well as many more.
Dual boot your machine and keep Windoze for games! There are commercial things like Cedega and freeware things like Wine to allow Windoze as a VM within Linux, haven't used the former, occasionally use the latter.

cedega is a monthly contract but is based on wine what can you afford?

The site gives info, $5 a month I think, and a list of games that run. Of course M$ will eventually close this up by requesting windoze validation in games!
If you want to learn about running a server and programming though, all the tools are there for free!
