Need Access to a Pc from a Laptop Host with Linux

I need to acess a computer tower through the internet wirelessly and with a eathernet cable when I am near it I would be accessing it from a laptop the only user interface. i want to make sure I can access it to perform updates then after set restricted access using another computer as a terminal over the web using a passcode or a live cd. and maybe voice access through a phone
OS any linux distro but user friendly and multi platform usablity. I not a pro or a amature but still learning.

New users of Linux often find the language used to describe different folders, computers etc, very confusing, and How about “ssh”.

kinda both. I am looking for a distro that will have all the settings needed to get started. I remember one that had a bear mascot. I know a little Linux code but I prefer not to have to use it more than needed.
