I installed Ubuntu on an old Dell that I had lying around. I have a wireless network, (linksys) but couldn't get Ubuntu to work on it. The software is designed for Windows and isn't Linux compatible. I'm new to Linux, so I tried to get some answers in the Ubuntu forum. After a few weeks of frustration, I set it aside and went back to using Windows XP Pro.

Then one day I decided to fire up that old Dell and check out Ubuntu again. The hard drive was toast, so I replaced it. Now I'm afraid to install Ubuntu and I really have no idea how to use Linux anyway. I do have a spare Dell to install it on, but Linux doesn't seem to like wireless networks. I know when you hard wire it, it networks well.

The only experience that I have with Linux is years ago I took a condensed class using Redhat 9. I have a lot of different Linux Distros. I just don't know how to use them. Whenever I ask a question online, all I get is "read this link!" from other users. After a two hour read, I still have no clue what they are talking about. Usually I just get frustrated and give up.
