ok so i got this thing to partition but it asks what format to use and i dont know what to chose

FAT32
NTFS
Linux Ext2
Linux Ext3
ResiserFs
Linux swap2

i'm trying to install PCLinuxOS2007 so what format do i make the partiton?

i'm running Win XP SP2

google the installation instructions. if you aren't going to be resourceful then you won't like linux.

If you are installing Linux on a clean drive or empty partition, Ext3 is the way to go. It has its own journaling system.

Remember that you need 3rd party tools for XP to read your ext3 filesystem. Linux will read/write fat32 and will read (not write) NTFS (there are tools for writing to ntfs)
