| my computer, can I use the same app. software used to run Windows? If you were running a UNIX or Linux operating system on your computer, could you use the same application software that you use for a computer running Windows? |

| No. You can't run windows software on a Linux system. However there is a windows emulator which lets you run some windows applications on Linux (I'm running xnews under wine under linux) it is usually easier to find a linux equivalent to your windows software. For instance, Microsoft Office, Open Office. Photoshop -- The Gimp ACDsee -- GQview, Gthumb (and many more) windows mediaplayer -- Mplayer, Xine, Totem, VLC ect... |

| If you are thinking about games, there is always cedega, which will play almost all windows games. It costs about £2.50 a month, tho this is a fair price to pay considering, frankly, how good linux is :) |
