Funny! Same as mine!
OpenSUSE is better organized in collecting together settings like this! http://absolutebeginner.wordpress.co...ubuntu-debian/ Try enabling root login so you can ditch sudo, you will learn to use google a lot!

It doesn't really protect you as when you use SUDO you provide your own password. A proper root access would require ROOT's password.
You would still normally login with your account, but then for maintenance you would issue the SU command, followed by ROOT's password, and then you have an administrator command window. Alternatively, start a second graphical session with admin access. After all, you are learning how to become an admin rather than do things the Ubuntu way!

Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Device "Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller" Monitor "Generic Monitor" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display" Modes "1280x800" EndSubSection EndSection Try editing this on yours: sudo kate /etc/X11/xorg.conf and change the DefaultDepth and Modes lines to suit. In Gnome I could change to 1280 x 800 via System, Preferences, Screen Resolution though. There is a similar mechanism in KDE.

Found this, don't know if it will help: http://ozlabs.org/~jk/docs/mergefb/ Also you will get far more mileage from the Ubuntu forums than here: http://ubuntuforums.org/index.php

Why would you tell a newbie to disable sudo? Give him a chance to learn something first.

Because lots of distros don't rely on sudo but use su or a root login.
