definatlly not apple!! there was a school that ordered tons of mac laptops and like 400 something needed to be sent in for repar after about 6 weeks!!
i honestly think windows xp is really good anyways and vista isnt as bad as everyone thinks
but if you dont want to use windows then get linux!!

WHAT?
mac osx is usaually very relieable and often i have found several macs that are several years old still running really reliably
however due to the apple company and their love for copywrite they have made it extremly tricky to put mac osx on anything apart from their own system, and they like to sue anyone who tries other wise, but i am sure their is a way!
i would suggest linux there are several choices open suse has some very nice graphical features if ur pc can handle it, very nice ways to swicth screens and workspaces etc
if not ubuntu is a very solid release that always works well

Yea, if not Microsoft, then go for Linux, macs are just ridiculous that you have to buy a specific machine to run the OS, and as you need to do that, the price of them are way to high.

Windows is a good operating system as well as all OS's but it depends what you do on it.
I suggest if you move into linux go into ubuntu as this is a simple linux distro and is easy to install and lets you get used to the linux operating system type. However you could dual boot, this is always a good option as you can slowly move into a operating system you like, such as windows XP and ubuntu. good luck...
