I have a professor that is requiring us to do all assignments in MS Word 2007 and will not accept any projects in older versions. So.. I need to get MS Office 2007, but I'm not sure which route to go. I thought I would just download the 60 day free trial from MS for now, but I have dial-up and it would take FOREVER to download. I have some assignments that I need to do today. Can someone point me in the right direction?

If I purchase MS Office 2007 online is it going to take forever to download also? I just can't really afford to spend over $100 on the disc and all that so I am just trying to figure out if I have any other options. Any advice is VERY appreciated!

That's a very nice offer! The stupid thing is our syllabus and assignment details are in docx format too, and my laptop won't even convert them so that I can view those pages. The instructor posted a link to a site where students can purchase the software for around $60, but I am a little weary that I may purchase it and it will still take a million years to download. What do you think?

I wouls just go to school and do the assignments, but I have a 11 month-old and I don't know if the library would survive her.

ok if you are using vista you can convert the files from docx to doc by right clicking on the file and going to properties
then just rename the the file (name).doc
when converting to docx i dont think you can but if you send me the file i will do it for you
but the above will let you open word 2007 files in an older version

Geesh. I can't change anything in properties. I tried to save it as doc but I don't have the option. It gives me either docx or all files. So I chose all files and it gives me a pull down list of options to convert the file format from since docx is unsupported, but none of the options will work because they are all older versions.
