...Vista? I'll be getting a laptop with Windows Vista Home Edition on it, but at my school, they only have Windows XP. Now if I work on a document in Office at school (or on my laptop,) can I save it on my USB and take it to the other location and be able to work on it with no problem?
Please and thank you!

depends on what version of office you have and what you school has, if the version is not to old it will convert , hope it is backwards compatible??

That will depend on the version of office the school and your computer use. If you have Office 2007, but the school has Office 2003, Office XP (not the same as windows xp) or Office 2000, the document will need to be saved in compatibility mode (.doc instead of .docx). If both your computer and the school's computer have the same version of Office, you don't have to worry about compatibilty issues.

OpenOffice Org(free software) - use this software and save in Office 2003 *.doc format. It's read everywere.

Windows does not include Office, it is separate and it depends on the version of Office you both have not Windows whether it is cross compatible or not.
