Default Office 2000 Problem

I have an issue with Word - it has suddenly stopped working (when I click a Word doc. or try to start directly, the egg timer comes up and stays up - task manager says that Word is not responding). I tried removing, then re-installing Office, which all went successfully, but Word is still the same. Excel is fine.

It's very frustrating, as I have letters to type, not to mention all the documents I am unable to access.

Suggestions, anyone?

Chris

Uninstall office.

Start Run and type

regedit

to open the registry editor.

You will see what looks like an explorer window.

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE look for Software then Microsoft and then Office and highlight it then press the Delete or Del key.

Do the same under HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Now reinstall Office and see if it cures it.

Glad to help! Why the HELL you should need to do it that way I have no idea! I first did this about 8 years ago and it STILL hasn't been fixed!
