Default office 2007 help

Hi, first post here. Found the forum on a google search. I just wanted to come on and hopefully get a little bit of help from you guys here.

When Office 2007 was first released I downloaded the trial, but uninstalled a couple of days later.

A few days ago I decided to download it again as I wished to use Access, so thought I could just use it through the 60 day trial, forgetting I'd already had my 60 day trial when I first downloaded. So I found this website which let you edit a file, and delete two in the registry to make Office work for the 60 days. But today it stopped working so it was just like an expired trial version.

I checked the files I edited and then deleted another registry file for it just in complete frustration and desperation. Office of course didn't work.. So I tried to uninstall but it just says

"Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted or not available. Run setup again from the original source disc or download location"

I was able to re-install again and hoped this would fix whatever it needed to uninstall, but the message above still came up. So I then installed it on my mums laptop, exported the registry onto a disk and imported it into my own computers registry.. but it didn't work either.

So my question basically is, is there anyway I can uninstall it?

Thanks a lot for any replies that can help me!

Default office 2007 help

Hi

I am going to give you a way to hopefully uninstall Office. However, this sort of problem normally comes up when you try to pirate office which makes me slightly suspicious. But your circumstances seem genuine enough so I will try.

Navigate to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller\Proof.en

Find this section
</Feature>
<Feature Id="SetupControllerFiles" Cost="1248">
<OptionRef Id="AlwaysInstalled"/>
</Feature>
<Feature Id="SetupXmlFiles" Cost="1248">
<OptionRef Id="NeverInstalled"/>
</Feature>
</Package>
Change NeverInstalled to AlwaysInstalled

Then go to Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs

Uninstall Office 2007

That should allow it to unistall.

Note: This is not a way to counter the anti piracy measures Microsoft puts on their products. It will not extend the trial in any way, merely allow it to be unistalled.

Now it is up to you what you do. You can try to install the trial again but it will probably say that you have used up your free time. The only option is to purchase a valid copy.
