since i have had my laptop i could not get my office to work right, i havent gone through the process of contacting microsoft because i have never used my laptop

but now im going abroad soon to do some marine work and i think i may need to get it sorted.

it wont correct anything

i can spell a word horribly wrong and i get no red lines to point out mistakes

now i havent tried a reinstall as i cant fully delete it. is there a proper way to remove office as everytime i do and reinstall it im left with my 'company name', and still the same same problem. ive checked that all the right boxes are ticked for the correcting process and my dictionary is called 'custom' but then its called that over my dekstop too which works fine.... stumped.

I have had to remove Office by brute force in the past due to misconfiguration.

Start-->Run and type regedit

In the "tree" that appears you want to open BOTH HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER and find Software\Microsoft\Office in both. Highlight the "folders" and hit Delete on both. Then exit regedit

Now in My Computer go to C:\Program Files and search for the Office folder. On mine it is called Microsoft Office. Delete it.

Now you should be able to reinstall.

ooo the problem still exists buddy but i have worked something out

when you open up a document you have on the bottom the current language it is using... mine is welsh (which i dont want, im welsh who cant speak welsh)

so i double click it and in the top box (above a list of languages) there is enlgish us with a tick and ABC icon indicating it has a dictionary for it and underneath there is welsh

if i check on my desktop now the default language is english UK

i think the real problem is, is that even if i set enlgish as my default welsh keeps comming back on opening a new document and as it has no dictionary for it its completely useless for welsh typing aswell..... so why does my default keep reseting back to welsh after closing word
