OS: Windows XP Pro.
Office 2003
Broadband connection working perfectly with IE 7

Emails configured and all tested as working perfectly with the ISPs. When Send and Receive is pressed, a weird error message appears saying: "The operation failed. An object can not be found". What object???? No emails can be sent or received.
Zone alarm is configured to allow connection.Reinstalliing XP and Office 2003 does not help.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Firstly see if you can connect to you mail server.

Get the settings out of your outlook for SMTP and POP servers or Exchange if you are using that.

Then run a 'cmd' window up

type 'ping mail.co.uk' (for example if your SMTP or POP servers are called mail.co.uk)
if you get timeouts then you have a network or DNS issues

type 'nslookup' in your command window ht the enter key
then type mail.co.uk (for example)

You should get an ip adress returned for the hosts mail.co.uk . sya 212.168.0.23

Then try pinging that ip adress

'ping 212.168.0.23' and check that it doesnt timeout

This should test connectivity from your pc to the host

Hi,

Thank you for your suggestion, but in the meanwhile I discovered the answer via Microsoft Knowledge base. The error message referred to Mail setup/Profiles, which had to be omitted ans substituted with a new one. After re-start all works fine.
Thank you
