I just bought a new laptop and activated the trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 by adding a product key. Now whenever I open Word or Excel, a message appears saying Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007. It does eventually load but it is annoying to have to wait every time I open a document. I found an article on the Microsoft website saying that it could be because I moved the shortcuts in the Start menu, but I have not moved them and their solution of changing to the Classic version of the Start menu doesn’t help either. Has anyone else had a similar problem? And more importantly does anyone know how to sort it out?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I haven't had it yet with that version of office, but older ones used to do it regularly if there were multiple users using office on the one computer. The user who installed it was fine but the others got this message.

Are your needs such that you could survive with OpenOffice?

Thanks for replying, but I actually managed to sort it out. Not sure what I did that fixed it, but the error message isn't appearing any more!
