Im doing a v-look up table, and Im trying to figure out what I need to do to correct my current formula as it is not working. I've done everything apart from 1 thing (I think) in the formula and I don't know what to put?! :S It's the col_index_num.

H2 to H10 are formatted as text, and E9 is a number.
Excel does not recognise 1 to 5 as 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5. It simply sees it as 1 to 5. To rectify your table, the simplest method (there will be an advanced more complicated solution but it is beyond my excel knowledge) would be to re-arrange your table to this: Total Marks - Grade 1 - F 2 - F 3 - F 4 - F 5 - F 6 - E 7 - E 8 - E 9 - E 10 - E etc etc. This method would work but it is by no means the best.

Thanks very much for your help! However now it performs its function BUT.... it only calculates what grade someone should get in E9 onwards. I want it to calculate the G9 onwards aswell. However when I type E9:G9 in, it includes the yes/no box aswell, and the formula dusnt function. How do I avoid this?
