Hey, im currently doing a degree course and have just completed my coursework for the deadline this friday! Regretfully i have overwritten it with a blank document and sadly have no back ups.

I desperatly need to try regain it, is there any way of regaining the lost document???

Thanks in advance for any help or advise.

The only thing I can think of is doing a search for it(start, search) and type in the name of the work
if you didn't back it up then it is most probably gone

Hi, try searching for the auto recover files.
Open Word > Tools menu > Options > File locations tab > double click autorecover files and write down its location. Cancel and close that menu. Open that folder in Explorer and look for .asd files.

Word may be set to auto back up your files. check th original folder location for any .wbk files. Make sure All Files is selected.

Do a windows search for *.wbk.

Search your temporary files by doing another windows search for *.tmp . If you have too many change the modified date in the search criteria.

You can check your hidden folders. Replace User Name in this example with whatever your own user name is.
C:/Documents and Settings\*USERNAME*\Local Settings\Temp

For the future turn on auto save Word > Tools > Options > Save Tab

Let us know how it goes.
