Yea, that's what I've been thinking of, afterall, the build can be better for the same price with an ATI card unfortunatly, as I like Nvidia, not sure why though because I have an ATI card at the moment. Maybe it's because without taking into account price, Nvidia has the best gfx card.

Not anymore!!!
The 4870x2 is a beast and can beat the 280 in sli
It will only cost around the same as a single 280 and can out perform 2 280's

yea, I've just seen those :D I now love AMD, well the gfx part of them but I hadn't seen those till after I had posted that.

SW I think i have decided what I'm going to be getting, I think I'm going to get a 4870 and a bigger monitor as I only have a 19" and a 17" both at 1280*1024 res. And will probably get a 22" or maybe a 24" second hand, depending on costs.

Here you can see the performance of the 4870 over the 8800GTX, the 8800gtx is still a great card considering that it is now 2yrs old

This benchmarks were created when the drivers were immature, so these benches only improved
For the price performance of the 4870 it is a legend
