well as far as i gathered it is similar to a large msn conversation but with better features
i was in lone last night with 1250 people in it getting help with ubuntu and its brilliant
i started out by asking if anyone could help me with my problem when someone said they could i then sent them messages by typing there name followed by a : this then showed my message bright red on their screen, there are auto complete for it as well for example you type the first few letters of the persons name and press tab and it is completed for you, you then type the message.
ill get a video and post it on youtube

Yes, it is. I used to use one all the time and have great experience with IRC. You can find mIRC HERE.

Personally, I think there good, many forums have them these days.

I'd rather keep conversations here on the forums rather than push them onto a format that brings us no gains, IE: Goggle traffic.

Without frequent fresh forum content we die, and what good is a mirc with no users.
