I think we should start a team. What is folding?

Basically, Stanford University uses a program that they distribute to you so you can donate some of your computer processing power in order to calculate things, which, after completed the data is sent back. This data will help them find treatment and/or cures for things like cancer. I have actually done this before a long time ago on another forum. haven't done it sense. I think we should start an official team and see if we can rack up points to compete with other teams. How the points work is simple-

Depending on the complexity of the data packet you are sent, you are awarded points once it is completed processing. there are 2 rake systems - your team vs. other teams, and you vs. the others in your team.

you can turn the program on and off at will, so when your not using your computer, you can run the program and thus help Stanford with its research.

You can also use your PS3 (it folds very quickly) and you can also register multiple computers to work for your own profile on the team at once.

what do you say dave? can we give it a shot?

Yeh, I'm just trying to dig the password back up. I lost a lot of mail before, which is archived, and somewhere contains the details.

Otherwise just set it up again.

This is great! It would be cool if we could give someone a small prize or something for who ever has the most points for our team after a few months. Ya know, to give the forum members some motivation to fold more.

Hmmm, I have a rack full of servers running out in the office, doing nothing all night, and 3 servers upstairs doing hardly nothing at all (just for home use).

Perhaps I should get them folding....

Be sure and read up on it before you start folding. If you only have one, or two PC's and use them a lot then folding won't be for you. It's more aimed at idle PC's processors.

Dave might want to set up a FAH forum also for the Google searches and for questions and team members to discuss topics.
