Am thinking of moving over to vbulletin.

Or do i stay on phpBB and just wait for the very vbulletin like version 3 which is free?

What do you prefer?

I heard users who use lots of forums prefer to use one type / layout as its easier to do things, rather than remembering how X amount of totally different forums work, for example.

Would the upgrade be worth it?

Dave.

I don't know if you guys experience the same thing or not but as good as vBulletin is, when you go on all of the webmaster forums then you likely get very annoyed, as I do. I think you should stick with PHPBB2 as the vBulletin software only leaves you a few selections as far as layout goes for webmaster/computer forums.

I really like phpBB, but I am a real big vBulletin fan. I think overall it is a more professional product and definately worth the money it costs. Also, a lot of the big boards use vBulletin.

If you are going to switch, go with vBulletin. If not, then phpBB works fine. PhpBB and vBulletin are my two top favorites. :]

I think changing forum software would just confuse people. I like phpBB -vBulletin is good too, but the only reason to change in my opinion would be security, or spam prevention.

If you aren't having trouble keeping up with patches, and spam isn't a problem, then personally I would stay with phpBB.

And now, it has changed! Would you mind telling me what you mean by vBulletin being free in version three? Are you being serious or were you joking? If you weren't joking, thanks for the information and I will be sure to convert over to vBulletin once they make it free!

I think he means that phpBB version three that is in development will be free and it will contain many of the features that vBulletin as. I reckon the phpBB three will take a while yet, and anyway the forum as already moved.
