So the current site when I ping it from around the world seems to be performing very slow, like 5-6 sec page load times in some places. Some days it's bad for me and it's UK hosted so US etc must be worse? We should be doing sub 1 sec most places.

Can you confirm your opinion on the speed in your location and also visit the link above and compare the two please. Any feedback on how the other forums you visit compare would also be great.

The new link is the forum I'm building from the ground up as the current ones templates, w3 validation and database is so screwed I cant even upgrade the software anymore. (3 years of messing with it)

It should be much much faster and nicer to use in the end as it will have all the whistles and bells of the latest version.

Thanks a lot.

Flock - Seems normal.
Firefox - Maybe just a tad slow but nothing that is concerning.
Chrome - Seems very slow.
IE 6 - Probably the slowest taking around 3 seconds to load some pages.
Avant - Same as IE.

Both. Actually I don't think I am having any slowness at all. I think it is just the browser speed I'm noticing.

23s page load time vs 15 on the main site.

However, I don't think it's the fault of the new forum necessarily:

Think there might be a packet loss issue considering this was posted about a month ago. Global Exchange is probably having problems.

To clarify, the new site is 23s and the current one 15s?

All my data points to the new site being much much faster, which as it is smaller in size and the code is cleaner makes sense. But others are saying the opposite. Bizzare.

Also 23s to load? Where the hell do you live ?

To be honest I think this is one of the fastest forums I frequent.

The new site did seem to load slightly faster in my very crude tests a second ago.

But I think my download speed is the limiting factor here...

Dont know if you want another UK measure or not Dave, but here it is anyway :

IE7 and Firefox 3.05 no noticeable difference.

New site less than a second ---- Current site 2 seconds
