I'm working up something to put on my blog that catches peoples eye and have come up with this.

 Had to delete the fancy ones to reduce size :( , and i only use gimp. |

It looks great, but maybe too much flashing. Sort of reminds me of a banner add for something I wouldn't want to click.

I reason that simple may be more inviting. Too much flash or quick moving text would turn me away (banner ads). I was going for something simple yet eye catching.
I have no idea how to create something like that with just gimp. It is impressive!
