Well I have a suggestion, I think that you should have to register to browse the whole site. Certain Forums can be available for guests. For example the least important section of the forum can be available to guests. I find that the " Computer Forum " is the least used and not very important, Make this available to guests so they get a little taste of the forum so they can register and see the important information available in other sections of this forum.

The computer forum doesn't contain important information but will show the guests that this forum is active, While they browse the "introduction forum". They will then hopefully register. Just came to mind while noticing that their are usually 90% Guests online and around 10% of member online.

If we block guests then we block googlebot and our site and our traffic disappears from Google.

It would be rather pointless.

Any site that has those boundaries in place I personally refuse to sign up on. They/we simply aren't that important when there are thousands of forums with the same information to be found.

Many people will come in as a visitor for a very long time with out the need to register. They find the information they need by searching the forums. At some point that may change and since we have silently helped previously, they register here.

It annoys me too.

It is a bit like those paid for computer help sites. You see the exact question you want to ask in Googles ranks, but then when you get to the page, the answers are all blanked out.

I just keep looking.
