Default The TCF Poll

Hi all.

We posted a thread similar to this some months ago but it didn't really work as we didn't have such an abundance of members.

As you've all no doubt read somewhere in some of the comments the admin and mods have added our aspiration is to be a great site. As it stands now we feel we a good site but we're aiming higher.

The only people who can tell us how we're doing are our members so a vote in the poll AND any comments you want to make would be more than welcome.
You won't be censored (keep it clean please....) or singled out if you have any negative comments. Again, any feedback is helpful.

This isn't a "Tell us how great we think we are" poll that you see on other sites. We want no b.s comments should you decide to add anything after your vote. Remember: positive or negative.

As the questions are all general you can make more than one selection in the poll.

Please. Do take the time to have a look and put your comments/votes. It will help.

It's only open for a month, so if you want to comment/vote ensure it's done on or before the 18th December.

Thanks.

The TCF Team.

i voted yes bar the item purchasing as i havent purchased a product from you guys (didnt know you guys did that tbh)

and the layout, i suppose it was because i didnt realise there was a new posts list, at the bottom of the page there is a list of threads and it has orange boxes it has had a new post recently. it took me a while to realise it was there. its something i use all the time as i disable post reply emails.

for me it just a case of maybe moving or improving the layout for the new posts notice. but i mean like i said now that i know where it is i have no problem with layouts along with everything else, top notch site!

We don't sell items Mr D. The question was an addition really to the previous question in the poll.

Default The TCF Poll

I voted positively for most things.
The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.
The things I didnt vote on were not due to a negative experience they just didnt apply to me.
Im not in the market to buy anything right now but I do read alot of the answers.

I voted that I liked the forum layout and I do but I still dont like the smileys.lol

One thing Im not too sure about is the instant locking of topics regarding P2P.
There are plenty of legal uses for the technology and for some the setting up of the whole thing can be confusing.
The news section has even on a few occasions had articles about it but still discussion on the subject within the forums is not allowed.
I guess the danger is of course that the forum would be flooded with questions about pirated this and cracked that but I think some aspects of the technology should be up for discussion.

Thats about it.
Props to the staff for working so hard!(damn smileys!)

This is something the Admin. and Mods. have had discussions about. If a legit p2p question were to come up then it might be allowed to be discussed. But nothing legit ever comes along.
I guess the danger is of course that the forum would be flooded with questions about pirated this and cracked that
Exactly.

Hey up Krlll.

Just to add to EF's comments.

Find me a group of people that use p2p software legally and I'll eat my hat.

Unfortunately it's a (damn) good idea used for rather dodgy applications.

Lets be honest here, 99.9% of torrents are of the illegal variety and, to be blunt, sorting the wheat from the chaff is something we really don't have time for (as you know we're volunteers all on here, with day jobs).

Also, with a lot of cracked software, keygens are included. A lot of the time these contain malware. So if someone creates a thread regarding this we don't feel inclined to help because it's also p2p/torrent related. And keygens in of themselves aren't exactly legal are they.

Unfortunately we're in an either/or situation. We either talk about illegal activities or we don't. And all the mods, and more importantly, also the admin, feel we shouldn't for obvious reasons.

We lock the threads immediately because, well, there's no point leaving them open is there. We've said in the forum rules and the sticky that these things won't be discussed. If the person posting hasn't read either of these then thats their call but they will be treated the same (we will try to keep consistency in how we handle this type of situation).

But as the sticky states, if it can be proved to our satisfaction that the subject in question on a particular thread isn't regarding illegal content/activities then of course we'll do our best to help but so far there hasn't been a single one, not one. That fact by itself pretty much bears out our decision not to discuss this subject.

Thanks for the props...and this next bit is just for you.....

Hi guys, thank you all for your support. You are the best here and you never let down users. The amazing thing in here is that you would not post a thread that is not replied within the first 1min of its life :)

Because I haven't bought anything that you've recommended yet I suspect it will be just after Xmas when I do.

One minor gripe: I think the rep system needs to be promoted a bit more, otherwise, where's the point in having it?
I would like to think that I (along with most people on this forum)give good, easily followable and usful advice to the best of my ability. I think we should have a bit more recognition of that, through the rep system.
Having said that, I still think that the rule about no rep adverts (for want of a better word)in sigs should remain.

ill agree with that. maybe adding a small button next to the quote system or something like that, and then giving reasons of to why etc etc
