I'm on the verge of swapping over along with linux hosting and mod-re-write urls.

Should I?

Personally I prefer it vBulletin.

Dave.

Linux is the best operating system (for servers) anyway! It is a lot faster, I believe you have made a great choice! I have visited many other forums that are run on Windows servers but they never seem to pick up the pace enough for me!

Good to see you swapped over to vBulletin - far superior than phpBB. :D

Any chance of seeing your mod re-write file?

I've been trying to get static URL's for ages but haven't got a clue about mod-rewrite. Have you thought about using the CMPS plugin to create a kind of CMS?

It's pretty powerful, but to be any use you'd want people posting fresh articles and reviews on hardware.

My file is particular to vBSEO don't think it will help you much but your welcome to it.

You need extra code as well as a mod-rewrite file.

Can you explain CMS mate, havent a clue about that.

Tell me about it, can't believe it took me this long to realise.

With vBSEO it makes a very formidable forum.

ah right, I just can't afford vBSEO at the moment :( probably won't for a while being a poor student.

Vbadvaced have CMS type plugin, it'll let you create a front to your website, see on mine (excuse the theme, i'm developing a better one now :D):

Rock3 Music - Uk Music Ezine

You can also pay for another plugin called GARS, it's cheap and it lets you create articles and reviews. It's very handy if you're going to creating your own content.

vBadvanced

vBSEO is worth 3 times what they charge, its a very good add-on.

I know what you mean with vBadvanced, i was going to add it and now is the time tbh as i would need to make the main forum a sub forum so now is good as we are just being indexed.

Doing it later would mean loosing all google listings.

I chose against it as a big forum is enough work for me without managing a front end.
