After playing COD5 I have decided I want an M1 Garand, and M1 carbine and a 1903 Springfield. I have a Lee-Enfield .303 and used to have an old German 8 mm Mauser, I think it was a KAR-98 (my brother stole it).

boy was I in for some sticker shock when I went on line to price them. My .303 cost my dad 25 dollars when he bought it in the 60's and we got 4 Mausers for like 35 bucks in the late 70's.

The weapons I just mentioned wanting were all over 1000 when I looked them up on line yesterday. Anyone out there have any nice WWII weapons? Any nice weapons that AREN'T WWII? What are the gun laws where you are? Are you allowed to own guns?

I think I also want a Colt model 1911 but have been avoiding getting a pistol.

Well actually yes, I have .50 cal in the head a few times but it wasn't MY head. Gotta love the Barrett.

I've seen that video before, I wounder what hit him, it certainly wasn't the round that he shot. At roughly 3500 FPS you count the seconds before it comes back and "hits" him. That video is about as authentic as Dolly Parton's breasts. I have put 10 rounds in a 3 inch diameter circle from over a mile away many times with a Barrett in 60 seconds. It wasn't MY Barrett however, my Uncle Sam owned it. He let me use it though when ever he wanted something shot from a long distance. Gotta love the Army, they have so many cool toys to play with. Uncle Sam's Barrett's though are much better than the ones the general public can by. For one thing the rounds are a little "hotter" if you know what I mean, and for another the scopes are far superior to anything I have seen in the civilian world.

EDIT: Pete, they will learn, the 9mm is a crappy weapon. It has little stopping power and if a cop needs to use a pistol he needs his target to drop right now, not in a minute or two. A .45 drops targets right now.

LOL I was BS'in. The first time I ever "saw" a Barrett was in COD4, although I was in the Army and got to play with other nice toys. However....... A buddy of mine is a cop and runs the local Police range, it's open to the public when the cops aren't training. I was there once when this guy brought a .50 cal rifle to zero it in that thing was HUGE. He's the one that told me about the 10 shots in 60 seconds. Apparently there is a club of .50 cal owners and that is one of the standards to be a "master" or whatever they call them. He said some guy put 3 rounds in a target over a mile away in a group that was 1 1/2 inches, considering that the .50 cal is is 1/2 inches in diameter, I was impressed lol. Me and my buddy didn't really believe him, but he (my buddy0 did some checking and the guy was telling the truth. I think his rifle cost like 10,000 US, much more than i have to spend on a toy like that lol. They make a .50 cal pistol as well.

I don't want anything like thta, I just want an old M1 Garand.

But it WAS a good story eh?

EDIT: Let me find the video, they show a rifle so powerful that the people shooting it can't hold on to it. it knocks a couple peole on their butts lol.

EDIT: Here it is lol. Watch this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VVOH...eature=related

The Army Cadet Force is a great thing :)

We fire an SA80 variant weekly, an L98A1 GP.

Summer camp we're let loose on some light machine guns, and if you are really lucky (like I have been) you get to kick some serious ass with a Browning .50 machine gun brought in by the army. No joking, this beast will take out an engine block in a car from hundred of metres away, in one shot (the US Police use them for purposes like this).

They will also flatten a typical 4 bedroom house to a pancake with a few hundred shots (fired of in a very short period of time )

I have also seen a similar gun used to shoot a deer at probably 1.5 kilometres.

We also have a collection of shotguns, which are always useful to have around the farm, and a rabbit exterminator, basically a suped up .22 with a silencer and a scope like a tv screen Much fun.

LOL Serverguy, they have the auto version of that rifle on on the game STALKER. The .50 cal browning you are referring to is called the M2 in the American Army and the "Ma Deuce" by us grunts. I have put many 1000's of rounds through that weapon, both from a tripod and mounted on a vehicle. I never used a scope with one (there actually was, maybe still is, a version of one with a mount for a scope), but with the open sights I was deadly. I scored expert on one (of course, I scored expert on every weapon I qualified on, with the M16 I never missed a target my whole career). A little tip if they make you clean them (the M2) after shooting: Hot water, soap, and a brush will clean that puppy in a heartbeat. Make sure you dry the hell out of it and then apply a little oil to coat the parts. They discourage that, but it actually is the best way to get it clean.

David: That was an awesome clip. those weren't out when I was in the Army other than for helicopters and such, but they are awesome. The 25mm chaingun on the Bradley Fighting Vehicles was pretty fun to use. It didn't have the rate of fire as that thing, but it made things disappear. LOL the fun thing about being old and OUT of the Army is that you remember the fun things (which were about 10 percent or less of the time) and forget about all the BS.

4 mausers for 35 bucks! and kar98's at that. thats insane. they were used as snipers i believe. and the ammo they use is 7.92mm.
my grandpa owns a 30-30 a marlin model 336 i think...he also has a couple of .22 winchesters, one of which is scoped and he also has an old blunderbuss. the gun i want most at the moment is a FG42, its a german automatic rifle. 20 round side mounted clip. 550m effective range, 760m/s muzzle velocity. uses 7.92mm ammo
