I'm 33 years old, gone from about 145 pounds to 160 pounds since November, I like to work out, have a home gym (w/treadmill), don't mind dieting, and I want to race a couple of times this summer (running & MTB). What should I do? - Earn your points for best answer... don't just point me to a website!

I know you said dont point to a web site but I use this one and have lost 3 inches off my hips lost 6 pounds and I havent had any problems breathing while I did it (asthmatic) This site is a free online diet and fitness club that will help you track what you ate how many calories and vitamins where in each meal and also has a place that will set up an exercise plan for you using the equipment you own and tell you how many calories were burned . It also has a forum to communicate with other people who are trying to lose weight or get healthier. The site is called sparkspeople.com Like I said it has worked wonders for me and having the support has helped me stick to my diet better than anything else and the freedom to modify to my needs the exercises is awesome

Well how many miles would you like to run by the end of summer? Start by jogging a mile ( if you can) If you can't just do a half a mile. I suggest doing this in the morning. When you get done w/ running make you a healthy breakfast. After you eat go lift weights for about 30-1hr. You'll get in shape fast! About running- Say you can only run half a mile. Well do half a mile for 1 week then next week do a mile. Week 3 do 1 and a half mile.I barrel race and it consist of top condition. Lifting weights is a excellent way to create strenth. Also walking in the evenings can help too. Good Luck on your way to getting in shape!

A diet and work out plan are very personal. One size does not fit all. If you don't find the answer you're looking for, give me a holler and we can work on it together. I would like to someday be a personal trainer and I already know from working with different people that I could give you a generic game plan, but I would say you're looking for something more specific.I wish you great success with whatever you choose!! :D

I use my local Gym and have been for over two years I workout twice a week at my local Gym (Not Body Building) and with a training partner (Barry) who has a vast knowledge of how your body works and exercises to achieve different goals, my workout changes every five weeks so to not get stale/board doing the same thing (and it works) so at present i have seven different workouts, i keep them on my PC and when its time to change i up load the routeen to my Mobile (notes) and i can look at or alter my work out on my Phone at the gym also add suggestions from Barry, my PC helps me in the Gym (because there is no way anyone could remember all the routeens and the weights used for each exercise, i find this system easy and accurate. My present workout Running Machine 8 minutes fast jog (to warm up, tones legs) Full Squat 3 sets of 10 reps (good for thighs, all over toning and cardiovascular) Bench Press 3 sets of 8 reps (good for the bust, all over toning) Peck Deck 3 sets of 8 reps (bust and upper back) Rowing Machine 3 sets of 8 reps (for arms, tummy and back) Bench Dips 3 sets of 8 reps (arms and shoulders) Seated heels Raise 3 sets of 8 reps (for calves) Kneeling Backward Raise 3 sets of 10 reps each leg Leg (keeps your bottom round and firm) Running Machine 8 minutes fast jog (to Finnish, tones legs) This takes about 75 - 90 minutes and i change exercises on the fifth week (say change Rowing for Lat Bar Pull Down) so as not to be doing the same thing week after week. I enjoy the Gym its good fun and its good for my health its not Body Building but i am very fit (don't drink much and i don't smoke) at 5`1" and a bit, 36"bust i can ware size 10/uk jeans just ( nice and tight) so its worth it ! PS in shape is sexy Maria X My System: #

| Hey Maria, to be frank only someone qualified to do so should be writing you an exercise regime. We don't know your BMI, your metabolic rate, any underlying problems (if any), current fitness level, etc etc. Rule of thumb that I work by though is if you havn't sweated then you havn't worked out enough!
