i was going to join a car forum, but theres enough of you here one of you may have or had the same problem

i have a 3 door 98 corsa

i cant unlock the drivers door from inside or out

the pully for the lock on the inside even with a pliers only lifts about halfway up and then shoots back down

a mate of mine who works for silverstone is down over the weekend so he may have a look, but just curious if anyone here has had a problem similar and has fixed it them self (which i prefer to do)

its not central locking, i cant afford such luxuries.

hehe well ive gone through the 'text book' standard procedures, swearing punching and kicking,

even tried a little sweet talk, but got a little of unwanted attention from passers-by.

but if i was to approach it from a more practical point of view i think the spring needs abit of greasing and cleaning

wish me luck

xD I'm in stitches reading your comments , anyways have you taken the inside panel of the drivers door yet to have a nosey? Might be something as simple as a loose part , but from the inside of the door you might be able to push the leaver up that hooks onto the frame of your car , and do you tend to slam your doors shut?

slamming...ME?!...always

makes me sound 'ard apart from when you walk off and your coat is caught in the door

i havent taken the inside panel off yet, main reason being, where im parked drivers side opens into the road, which can lead to more funny situations...no door

but yeh i dont think its broken just some tweaking and cleaning,

shall let ya know how i get on

Shame that the car does not have central locking.....

I once saw a AA guy come out to fix a door of a mate who had managed to lock his keys inside the car. He thought the guy was just going to have to smash a window or drill out the lock or something.

Anyway, AA guy turns up, looks under the car for a few seconds, stands back up and kicks the bottom front part of the passenger side door hard. Next thing is all the door locks pop up and all the doors were open.

Magic! He explained later that a lot of cars have doors that will automatically unlock in the event of a crash and kicking it hard in the right place tricks it into going off. I thought it was pretty neat.
