I paid 59 dollars for my book, you can find it here: http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=Charles J. Brooks&page=1

Good luck on getting anymore info on that here or getting your questions about this answered. I didn't. Maybe you asked it a different way and will get more responses than I did in this thread: http://www.computer-juice.com/forums...-advise-18854/

This is the book i used...im sure you can find it cheaper this is just the first result i saw and wanted you to see it so.....
http://cgi.ebay.com/A-Certification-All-in-One-Exam-Guide-6th-Ed-FAST-SHIP_W0QQitemZ280269626145QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item 280269626145&_trkparms=72%3A1205|39%3A1|66%3A2|65% 3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

There are 2 exams you must take to become certified...the first is a CompTIA A+ essentials exam and the 2nd one i think there are 1 of 4 exams you can chose from in whichever area you want to become certified...they are all closely tied together though....

the link i posted of the book i was going to get..well i just got it out the libery
so i have spent nothing yet.. but would feel much better getting a training program book like the one you posted i will have a look on ebay.uk for one.
yerr you cant move forward to you pass the a+ exam but from that you then pick out of 5 like you said mines the build and repair one as thats my goal to getting that kind of job but they are all
tied together as you learn abit of everything in all subjects at the minute am learning all the names like HDD,PSU,GPU what they all stand for.. the list is big but i think if i keep reading them over and over i shouldnt for get

there is 100 Questions in the a+ exam... how many of them can you get wrong and still pass? if you no because am trying to find out with not much look
thanks for your reply and taking the time to show me what tools you used

Bubba

are you still learning for the a+ exam then? if so let us no how your finding it
as i'm fresh in it all and am sure your further into it than me

Hi Pete, I recommend "MIKE MEYERS' A+ CERTIFICATION PASSPORT". Search for it on Amazon or ebay. I have read it and it's a great book for passing your A+.

As already mentioned on this forum, you'll also have to do some messing around with computer bits youself. Just buy an old cheapy PC and open it up.

Another good thread you may want to read:

Good luck.

The CompTIA A+ Essentials 220-601 exam includes a random selection of 100 items that must be completed within 90 minutes. To pass the exam, candidates must correctly answer at least 75 of the 100 scored questions for a total score of 75% or greater.

The CompTIA A+ IT Technician 220-602 exam includes a random selection of 90 items that must be completed within 90 minutes. To pass the exam, candidates must correctly answer at least 70 of the 90 scored questions for a total score of 78% or greater.

The first exam is the essentials which you must pass to move on to the next test....the second test is the one i took im not sure if this is the one you will be taking or not? but thats the info i have...

I believe that there are questions on both exams that are not graded, they are just in there for other purposes....maybe some type of research i dont know........

I took both of my tests back to back in the same day and passed both...you will see some repeated questions so it may not be a bad idea to do so yourself....
