Find a local company and get in a as a trainee, pay will be crap but that's not what you are there for.

Or there is always PCWorld.

You could call the places in your yellow pages, I'd recommend going into PCWorld and asking too, they don't always advertise as places like that get walk in applications and have a high turn over of staff so a recently new position may not have been advertised yet.

I'm trying to be as gentle as I can be Spencer, but if you used the same grammar and spelling on your PCWorld application as you did here, I am not surprised they turned you down. I assume by your icon flag that you are from Great Britain and as such English is your mother tongue. Old people like me read job applications and we neither "get" nor care about text messaging lingo, ESPECIALLY on a job application. I say this as a tip, not as a criticism to your posting style here. If this doesn't apply to you then ignore it lol, don't get mad. If, however, it DOES apply, then take my message to heart.

I too was young once, (seems like a LONG time ago), and made more than my share of mistakes. I still make them. On job applications be professional, the tight asses reading them will throw them out and you will never get a foot in the door if you aren't. Good luck. LOL I'm in the same boat as you, looking for a computer hardware job as an old person.

I re read your original post. You are leaving "skool" in a few years? I don't know if you mean college or high school (I don't know what you call high school in Great Britian, sorry). ANyways, I'm assuming you mean high school. What I would suggest in that situation is exactly what you are doing. Peruse websites that have a plethora of computer hardware oriented folks on them and suck up all the knowledge you can. Keep knocking on doors (easier if you live in a big city rather than a small own) of folks who are doing what you think you may want to do. Like Dave said, you will be paid crap, but that is the nature of the beast. You will be paid for what you know and as a kid you don't know much, but whoever hires you will TEACH you much so there is the trade off. Actually you will probably get the better end of the deal in the long run as you sound like someone waiting to soak up all the knowledge you can.

Good luck.
