Just been watching an auction on Ebay for a new E6850 CPU which ended up at £192.00. This processor can be got for less than £170.00. Do people not check out prices before they bid or does auction fever take over?

Lots of people buy the stuff on paypal then do a charge-back.

Then there are the ones who fall into the shill bidding trap.

No one ever lost money under-estimating the stupidity of the general public!
I was looling for a small mp3 player last month, i looked at the creative stone. It is £27.99 in currys. On ebay they're going for £28 PLUS £7 shipping, from Hong Kong. Now, i thought that surely no one would pay an extra £7 for longer delivery and no warranty when they could drop by currys on the way home from work, i was wrong. This seller had sold 20 in the last month. Some people are either stupid or just assume that Ebay is the cheapest place to buy from. You could probably make money buying components from dabs or ebuyer, and then reselling them for an extra £10 on ebay. |

People do get carried away. When I used to buy stuff off ebay I saw things going to silly prices. Sometimes bidding fever takes over as it has happened to me but luckily someone had it more and won then an auction later I had the same thing for the right price.
