my computer knowledge is better than the average and thats all i would class it as, ive build 2 computers myself installed wireless networks for friends and family, installed and configured outlook, but i question myself because at my last job i got sacked because i didnt know enougth and they expected more of me and they werent gonna provide me with no training so thats why im having 2nd thoughts about going into IT also my colleauges said i was really rubish at trouble shooting problems but that was my first IT job so yeah i agree with them on that on, i just dont know what to do.

Maybe IT isn't the right career path for you? My personal opinion is says you don't seem to enthusiastic about computers from what Ive read in your posts here at Cj. I've only ever seen you ask for help and not give it, not saying that's not fine but if i see a question which i could help with, which i could provide concrete links and advise my mouse pointer will not go anywhere but to the reply box maybe you should look for a job that has absoloutley nothing to do with computers whilst you go to college for your nvq's and stuff. Do you have any idea what your former employer was expecting from you? as there is always time to learn! xD

maybe start up your own business of computer hardware and building systems, keeping as far away from software and networks as possible.

although you do need a bit of cash for that.

Think of a trade that everyone still needs and is not affected by the current economic climate.

A friend of mine got made redundant last year, from an admin/office position and retrained as a Plumber. He now works for a good firm, has loads of private work and extra cash and loves it .... in fact he wishes he had done something similar years ago.

Think of something you might like doing and check out what courses are available and what sort of help can be had with course fees etc.. I know the Job Centres are not wonderful, but they may be able to guide you down the right road, especially if it gets you off their books.
