alright, thanx for the link.
i found three guitar packages..

Ibanez IJX 40 Jumpstart Package
Ibanez IJX 121 Jumpstart Package
Epiphone Les Paul Special II Package
Ultimate-guitar reviewed the IJX40 and Les Paul Special II..gave the IJX40 a 7.7 and the Les Paul a 8.4 ...i'll probably go for a Les Paul Special II..or u hav some info that the Ibanez packages is better?

Why dont you go to americanmusical.com and order something nice from there. they have easy payment options u can choose..

Also.. Maybe you dont need an amp... Why not just get some amp modeling software and play on the computer? like Native Instruments Guitar Rig 3 or Waves GTR3 .. thats what I do! :D

Or get a POD from Line 6..
Those are great because you can get all kinds of different amp sounds from them, just like the software, so you aren't limiting yourself to 1 specific amplifier..
If you do decide to get an amplifier, I would go with a Line 6 amp, because they are so versatile..

What kind of music are you interested in playing? That plays a big role in the type of equipment you should be using.

I don't agree. I have been playing for 4 years and I can tell you, don't get modlling software. Can you tell me your budget? And don't get a combo pack unless you are saving money. So yeah tell me your budget and I'll find you the best stuff. What style do you play/want to play?

I was giving him ideas to get him started within a budget.. It's not for everybody I agree, but being on a computer forum, I figured it would be a possible solution..
I've been playing for 9 years now and can tell you, If you learn how to use the software well (the right software) you would never need an amp or effects again, unless you plan on performing live..

thats also why I was recommending that website instead of getting the packs.. I hate packs. I had a squire strat pack for my first guitar.. and I'll tell you, that was the worst possible way to learn guitar.. You need to get something of a little better quality than those packs..but that can get expensive..

alright..my budget is AROUND or NOT more than 300-400 USD for both guitar and amp. my friend told me to get a Squier. so i look up Squier on the internet..i think that is wat i will be getting now. just guitar, NOT PACK. i play stuffs like LP, Yellowcard, Sum 41 and those kindsssss. a Squier Strat maybe? and yea, i will use this guitar as my first and probably not getting another one..so I want a guitar that can support me when i'm a little advanced :) and does all amp have distortions? sorry if i sound nooby but I am. i'm living in Malaysia so i will get it from a store and not ordering online.

Squier Strat HSS
Squier Strat SSS
Squier Tele Custom
Squier Strat Deluxe
any?

one thing, what's the difference between the Affinity, Bullet, Standard, Deluxe and all the series of Strats from Squier? what's the best? and what's the cheapest? also what's the downside of a beginner-recommended guitar compare to a advanced one..maybe like harder to hold a fret?

Arggggh, stick with Epiphone - those Squire ones are not very good!! Build quality is shoddy!

I've got an Epiphone SG and the thing sounds absolutely SICK!! Really crunchy - the stock pick-ups are sweet and it super easy to play. It's be perfect for the rockier stuff you want to play!
