FIRST POST ON MY BRAND NEW COMPY!!!! :D!!!!

oh man....it was hell and a half setting this thing up.

putting it together was no problem. plug that into this, hook up the fans, whatever.

installing XP was a nightmare. i was trying to install it on my Maxtor 40gig from my old dell setup. it was acting as a slave drive at the time.

i tried installing XP on it and it kept telling me "NTLDR is missing". and refused to boot. i figured out kind of quick that it was unable to use that maxtor drive. so i switched over to my western digital 40 gig, and presto. it was a cinch from there. now i'm all set up and stuff, and redownloading all my old apps from my last setup.

i have to say...this thing is amazing. OH MY GOD. core 2 duo and 2 gigs of ram...holy crap.

and in the end i went with an MSI p-35 neo combo mobo. it supports 1066 memory and stuff. so i thought that'd be cool.

but luckily, no DOA parts. that was the most amazing part. i was surprised. everything worked straight out of the box. the only trouble i had was from that hard drive. but that's over now.

sam, i know straight up you'll congratulate me, so i'll thank you a lot ahead of time. and sam, if you PM me with your email, i'll send you the pics of it. the wiring inside is a bit messy. i had to work things in a strange way just to make some of them reach. i found out that the PSU was seated at the bottom of the machine. so that made things a bit weird. but so far, man...i wish you could be here to see it.

i'm very very satisfied ^^.

well, see, when i was on the old website, i was discussing this build with sam. and i promised to send him the pics first. i will eventually upload them, but i have my priorities. no worries. you will see it.

and if you like, you can view the exact specs:

40gig WesternDigital IDE hdd 5400 RPM
Intel E6750 Core 2 Duo 2.66 ghz Conroe
2 gigs G.Skill DDR2 800 mhz memory
MSI P-35 Neo Combo Motherboard
CoolerMaster Case 3x120mm fans
Antec Earthwatts 500 watt PSU
ATI Radeon PCI 9250 128mb
16x Asus DVD combo drive
and stock fans/heatsinks

i plan on eventually replacing the video card and hard drive. video card will eventually become an 8800gt 512mb, and the hard drive will eventually be a 160gig 7200rpm Western Digital. that is...whenever i have the money. i'm pretty much drained after that build ^^;;;
