on monday night my cat was downstairs sitting down (more like laying on her belly) and she started to breath really wierd and make wierd noises and i could just tell she was in distress, so i shouted to my parents and sister, they came down and we started to call the vet and the only vet which was open that night was the one in sutton not to far from us (epsom) so we put her in the box and rushed down there, bye this time i wasnt crying but my sister was but i knew what was coming.
when we got there we saw the vet straight away and she checked her out and she did tests ie checked her heart checked her temperature her eyes and then her stomach and he could feel a cancer the size of an egg, when he broke the news ie we need to put her down, all of us came to a conclusion to put her to sleep, by this stage i was crying and when i saw the vet shave her fur of her arm to stick in the neddle he said i cant see no viens (being her veins were flat and she had no more red blood cells left as her heart was giving up) and when he put in the needle and i could see the juice going into her i cryed even more and when he said shes gone, it was bad i cryed so much and deep it was really painfull to see your animal dead on the table with her eyes still open.
After we took her home as we wanted to bery (srry bout spelling) her in a spot in the garden instead of letting them cremate her.

has anyone lost a pet that they really love, i just want to know how to get over it as i still now cry to this day, its really hit me hard

Hi robina80,
know how you feel.
A few years ago I had my cat put to sleep after a long illness.
The vet came round to our house to do it so that it was more comfortable for him (the cat that is).
I have a dog now but still think of my cat very often but now the pain has gone, as I am sure it will for you.
Hang tough & give it time,
my sincere condolences,

Slime.

I do feel for you Robina, I had to have my Cat put down three years ago, she was 17! She had gone senile and was in distress. I just left her with the Vet, I couldn't watch her die. I still feel terrible when I think about it, but you have to remember what a happy life your Cat had living with you and how lucky you were to have had her in your family. You will feel better soon. Best Wishes from dumblonde.

About 3 yrs ago, in the winter, one of our goats died. Dad had said the goats weren't pets. But, I milked and took care of it, also she was pregnant. And I was a somewhat attached to her. Since she died in the middle of winter, we couldn't bury her because the ground was frozen. So Dad put her body in a blanket and we put her body somewhere to bury later.
I didn't cry my head off, but I was sad.
I won't go into detail, but I blame some person for her death, she did NOT have to die!
Also when we were burying her, my brother broke her leg because she didn't fit in the hole.

Since then, I've decided not going to have any pets.

Hope you're feeling better, don't worry you will get over it
