1x Ltr = 0.22 Gallons or ..... 1 x Gallon = 4.55 Ltrs

So at £1.26.9 per litre , that is £1.26.9 x 4.55 = £5.73 per Gallon
This is equivalent to $11.27 a Gallon

Yep .... Mike is quite right ......

1 x US Gallon = 3.785 Ltrs

So at £1.26.9 per litre , that is £1.26.9 x 3.785 = £4.80 per US Gallon

This is equivalent to $9.44 a Gallon

Even at that rate diesel is good value compared with petrol though if you get so many more mpg.

we pay AU$1.70-1.80 per litre for diesel in the suburbs out here. well over $2.00 in the country though. and petrol is about $1.50 in the built up areas. seems cheap compared to the us and uk, but its expencive to us aussies
