Just thinking. I had a customer ring me a few years back wiyh the following question. How do I stop swallows crapping on my helicopter. Not being conversant with the situation I did not really have an answer. The customer then offered this solution. He said what if I started the car in the hangar closed the doors and left it running. I said no Carbon monoxide is heavier than air so the car would choke before the gas would reach the roof. He then suggested running it outside and piping it in. Again the time scale would be enormous and most would probably leak out. We never came up with an answer and I never remember to ask if he solved the problem.

Hey Wolfie he may have been stupid in relation to that but dummy he isn't. He got around £4.5m for his first company and his current company is worth maybe 5 times more at present

Forgive me if I'm wrong but a man who seemingly has the intelligence to run a company worth £22 million shouldn't be asking how to stop birds taking a dump on his helicopter.

Well if the Man in question is worth £22 million I'm sure he could have an enclosed Helli port built "resembling a large garage" and leave the Hanger to the birds "maybe even make it a Swallow Sanctuary" add a nice bird bath ? :)

I think you may all be missing the point, I very much doubt he couldn't find or afford an answer, so thought, I know, I'll call McBee.

It was probably mentioned in passing conversation. The point is how to solve the problem not why.

Mine was a solution! (kinda :D ). If you're well off financially then you could hire a housekeeper/maid/butler etc to resolve always being disturbed by the doorbell or the phone ringing. Or the house being dirty. Answered in that vein fella.

Anyway, as it's a swallow and they like bread and stuff (not very up on our feathered friends eating habits as you can tell) why not just set aside a small area near the hanger with food, preferably something elevated so they wouldn't feel the need to perch on the hangar. Kill two birds (sorry) with one stone there.

Im not sure if this would work as I don't know much about a birds hearing, but you can get these mouse / rat repellers that you plug in and it makes a high pitch noise that they dont like, it's too high for us to hear but it definately did the job getting the mice out of our loft ('attic' for any Americans!).
