SBC bought AT&T, and then SBC changed its name to AT&T. So your 44 shares of SBC would now be 44 shares of AT&T, as all that happened to those shares is that the name changed. (If these SBC shares were as of a date before 1998, then you shares may have split).Southwestern Bell changed its name to SBC Communications in 1995. So those 44 shares of Southwestern Bell you have may be redundant with the 44 shares in SBC Communications. However, in 1998, SBC did a 2 for 1 split, so if you had 44 shares, you would have gotten 44 more, and probably under the new name. So these shares aren't necessarily redundant (and in fact probably are not).Bell Atlantic was folded into Verizon, not AT&T. Bell Atlantic and GTE merged to form Verizon. Each share of Bell Atlantic became 1.22 shares of Verizon. http://investor.verizon.com/shareown...worksheet.aspx has information on that particular company.

No they are not all folded into ATT. SWBell was folded into SBC and SBC bought and changed its name to AT&T. Bell Atlantic is now Verizon. If you have no broker, better call ATT's &Verizon's customer relations department to get new certificates with the proper number of shares.

Maybe someone can give you specifics, but I am not sure. The best I know of is to contact AT&T investor relations and ask what they have you for. The reason to do this is because not all those companies are now part of AT&T again.
