I acquired Ubuntu a while ago and bought a HDD too but decided to install Vista instead.

Think I may either remove vista or split it into two partitions to have a goose at Linux if it's that good.

How was the OS Installation?

Also how big is the HDD you are using for Linux and how full is it? (roughly).

os installation was a breeze although the rest is rather complicated, but its worth it, not for a new user

Yeah, attempted to install it last night, which was a bad move as Vista did not like being budged one bit.

Wouldn't let Partition Magic re-size it's partition, then threw a hissy fit when I tried to reset my XP MBR, and after reverting to Vista EasyBCD, decided to give me a missing hal.dll error which, in the end, just forced me to unplug the Vista HDD and start over.

Still not got it sorted, just waiting on a temporary build to remove blank the Vista HDD so it cannot mess up my current rig any further.
