...factory keyless...previous car owner broke the last remote!? What do I do? I don't want to spend $130 on an aftermarket, when it already has a factory keyless. Some guy told me to buy remote online, i did..but it doesn't work. The honda dealer says, you have to function it first...how to function this remote I have. It is for my 98 civic LX!! DEALERS frekin' charge money!!

It probably needs to be programmed with a factory scan tool. Unfortunatley that means taking it to the dealer.

Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position. Press and hold (for the entire programming sequence) the Valet/Disarm button on the radio. This button is between the buttons for Tape/CD and FM/AM. Wait for the door locks to cycle, which means it's in programming mode. Remember to keep holding the Valet/Disarm button. Within five seconds of the door lock cyling, press either the lock button or unlock button on the key fob and listen for the door locks to cycle again, which means that the transmitter was accepted, then release the Valet/Disarm button. You're done!
