Hi,

I am looking to buy Left 4 Dead this weekend because it is on sale.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/500/
I hope it's not just me, but it says $24.99 right? I have $43 in my Paypal and it says I don't have enough... My $43 is US dollars and I'm pretty sure Steam is US as well... When I go to make the purchase, it tells me to put in a credit card number, and says that I don't have enough money. I have not passed the limits on Paypal either, I have $11,064.81 AUD left for sending limit, according to the Limits Policy on Paypal.

Anyone know why?
Thanks.

Well I emailed them, and I got a reply which seemed like a copy-paste one, because it didn't answer my question. I told them that I had enough money, and I didn't surpass the limit, so I asked why it wouldn't pay. The reply that came was
Quote:
The maximum total amount of money you can send with PayPal is your
Sending Limit. When you open a PayPal account, your initial Sending
Limit is $0.00, even if there is a balance on the account. Once your
email address is confirmed and a credit card is added, (and linked and
confirmed if necessary,) your initial Sending Limit increases.

To view your initial Sending Limit, log in to your PayPal account and
click the "View Limits" link.

To lift your Sending Limit and become Verified, log in to your PayPal
account and click the 'Unverified" link on your Account Overview page.

All limits are denominated in the currency of your Primary Balance. If
you send funds from a currency balance other than your Primary Currency,
your Sending Limit will be reduced by the Primary Currency equivalent of
the payment amount.

It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing PayPal.

From the problems I had this is about how it works . PayPal likes to have a credit card and a personal checking account on file this way when you purchase something they first check your checking account to be sure thay get there money. Now the funds you have in there may cover the item but Paypal is also looking at the exchange rate if any. there fee. Yes they do charge a small fee. This is why they are making you go through all this. But to be on the safe side only give them one credit card number. Or you may run into problem later when you try to purchase something form a place that dose not use paypal.
Best thing go to paypal and read the fine print.

Well I'm pretty sure there isn't an exchange rate needed, so I don't think there should be a fee. But even so, I have almost double the amount required, the fee shouldn't cost that much. I'm not really at liberty to give a credit card number, seeing as I don't own one.

Did some googling, and some guy said that for purchases you need 2 times the amount to be able to pay. Today also happened to be pay day from Triond, so I got 2 times, and I bought it.Seems pretty strange though, that you need 2 times the amount....

Wierd, I don't think you need twice the amount, never happened to me, though I went on the site, and it said the game/whatever was 49.99...

Maybe that's why :O

It was 24.99 before, because it was on sale. It's ended now of course...
