Default plasma tv how big is too big?

My lounge is 13"x11" and i am looking to buy a plasma tv but not sure how big i should go. The couch is about 9" away from where the tv is would a 50" tv be too big and strain the eyes. I am thinking that a 42" is probabley a better size. Anyone tell me of their experience with big tvs?

9 inches away! Well, I would go for a 6 inch TV then!

Actually, is this a doll's house? 13"x11" lounge?

Ok, we have a 32" at 12' away and that is just about enough. (Toshy from Amazon, £405!)

If it is too big it is like the front row at the cinema, you can't take it all in without moving your head!

If you are not watching high def on Sky or one of those expensive DVDs, you will also see all the artefacts caused by upscaling.

Personally I would go for LCD rather than Plasma as they don't suffer from screen burn.

Just got out my trusty tapemeasure and my tv is 10ft away.

It's a 42" and it's too big for the eyes to be honest.

I'd be looking at a 37" in your situation.

Resolution comes into it as well though, though not to the degree of a pc monitor.
