Default Problem with my new TV and surround sound kit

Hi

My girlfriends Dad bought a Samsung TV 50" LCD and it came with a Samsung DVD Surround sound kit.

When were watching TV through Sky (Normal Sky channels not HD) with the surround sound kit thew sound comes out all 5.1 speakers but after a few minutes the sound comes out of sync with the picture. It gets really bad to the point we turn it off, leave it for a minute then have to turn it back on.

Its connected to the TV through a optical cable. Its the 5.1 kit that came wth the TV so im sure its compatible. Any ideas?

Thanks!

You're doing this straight thorugh the TV? Without an AV Amp?

If yes does the TV support multiple channels? ie. are you definatly getting 5.1 sound not just stereo fornt and back then mono from the center and sub?

If the TV does support it you should have some settings on there, also the same on an AV. You might just need to adjust the settings to how far apart the speakers etc. are.

The problem may of course be that you're not watching a program that has been encoded for dolby. As it's sky some channels are, but not all. Try only listening to the front stereo (turn the surround speakers, the center, and the sub off.) is it still out of sync then?

Could be a million and one things I'm afraid, and we're gonna have to rule them out one by one

Default Problem with my new TV and surround sound kit

Hi

The Sky box it connected to the TV via a scart lead, then he has a optical cable coming from the back of the TV to the Surround sound kit.

I will try those things you mentioned! Its strange that it ok for a bout 10 mins then starts to slowly get worse

Thanks!
