mcbee is on a distinguished road
Default Raffle

With the gathering interest in the competition I am reminded of the following story.
A young man named Gordon bought a donkey from an old farmer for £100. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day, but when he drove up he said "Sorry son but I have some bad news, the donkey is in the truck but he is dead" Gordon replied, "Well then just give my money back" The farmer said, "I can't do that because I have already spent it." To which Gordon replied "Just unload him anyway." The farmer then enquired of Gordon what he was going to do with the donkey. Gordon replied that he was going to raffle him off. The farmer exclaimed, "Surely you can't raffle a dead donkey" To which Gordon replied "Of course I can I just won't tell anyone that he is dead"
A month later the farmer met Gordon and enquired what happened with the donkey. Gordon replied "I sold 500 tickets at £2 a head and made a great profit" Totally amazed the farmer asked "Didn't anybody complain that you had stolen their money because you lied about the donkey being dead." "Not at all" replied Gordon "the only person who found out about the donkey being dead was the winner so I gave him his £2 back and £200 to compensate for the donkey and he thought I was a great guy"
The story goes on to say that Gordon eventually became Chancellor with references to honesty, lying to the public and flogging dead donkeys.

Not to be funny Mcbee.

But the feel of the story relates a certain suspicion on your part in the competition.

Just what did happen for Mcbee and others to suddenly take this stance?

This really improves the chances of Dave thinking up another raffle for everyone.

Any other member's opinions?

Not on Mcbee's post but on the competition.

Seriously, if there's any of you feeling doubtful about the competition we'd like some responses. Likewise, if there's any of you feeling positive we'd like to hear that too.

From our point of view, this is the (apparantly) second member to express some doubt's about the raffle.

Do you think we're trying to con you? Have we ever given any member, for one instant, any reason to doubt us?

The raffle has been displayed publicly for all internet users to see. Dave has quoted, publicly, all over this forum that he is raffling a card. This isn't some Ebay scam. This is a competition in which the owner of the site is trying to generate some give-back of loyalty to our members. Some of you might be thinking we're making a profit on the raffle but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Look at the price of the tickets, then look at the number of the tickets and multiply. Then add postage and packing onto that.

What, do you think he's going to take the money and run? A lousy £200 quid or whatever it is. Closing down the site in the process. Really?

Post your comment's please. You won't be treated any differently by us should you have a negative opinion. I think we've proved we don't do that. But make any feedback constructive please.

This isn't aimed at you Mcbee, but as I've stated above you appear to be the second member to publicly show some suspicion about the raffle. We'd like to open a thread so anyone can post their comments.

Making sticky.

My company makes a lot of money, I really do not need to rip off members of a forum.

I'm a bit surprised and hurt if people are pointing fingers, I will probably make a loss on this raffle and already do so on the forum as a whole.

If anyone is that paranoid over 4 quid get some help.

Guys don't read anything into the story on my behalf. I didn't mean it as a comment on the competition at all. I have supported the competition from the start. Mcbee.

i haven't entered the comp on the idea that im phasing out my computer games, hardly play them hence no need for such a card.

however i have absolutely no doubt that you guys would live up to your word and would settle any problems that would occur such as a faulty card.

Everything about this competition is positive.

For the price it costs to become a donator you get to have a chance at winning a great prize.
It shows that the owner cares about the members.
It helps to generate community spirit.I for one will be happy no matter who wins(unless they dont OC it then I will give them -Rep. j/k lol)

Anyone that thinks its some kind of scam is just daft or maybe just excessively paranoid for some reason.
I dont know about McBee and his "Donkeys" but I do know about looking gift horses in the mouth.
