Default Supermarket Credit Cards

I had a credit card from a well know supermarket starting with T. They managed to take one months bill twice so phoned up to get it refuned. That tooks weeks after this had been done I told them to close the account and settle up. Was told the account was closed and everything paid. Today after a couple of months after I closed the account they phone up demanding payment for £500. I told them that I had closed the account last year and paid it off. They told me the account was closed but not paid off. Even though they told me it was all sorted when I closed the account. I really hate this company's personal finance department. In the end I had no choice but to pay it.

Thanks for the warning, but I wouldn't have paid!

Do they use the same call centre as British Gas by any chance?

I just looked over my account and I paid my bill in full in october thats when all this taken twice happened. I closed the account in november so between the middle of october and november I spent £500. I had not used the card after I found out they over charged me.

Any credit cards are bad...

But yeah, not much you can do, they will just blacklist you and send debt collectors round.

My bro one started to get bills from a gas company that phoned but he never agreed to sign up to, they then sent debt letters and he had no choice but to pay up.

ok, fair enough!

I took a route in the past with BT where I went this way

Single telephone line
Second telephone line
Second line ISDN enabled
Dropped first line
Changed second line to ADSL

Each time, BT bungled my billing badly, I mean like hundreds out!

Just phoned back up they told me it was to do with this refunding the double payment and interest for not paying my bill in december. She then told me I will get another bill in february to pay the remaining interest off.
