Default Wanting An Occupation In The Computer Field

How are you guys doing? I was wanting to get a job in the computer field. I was thinking maybe starting out with like an IT Help Desk job. I like it alot and think I am pretty good at it. What first steps should I take to pursue this? Certifications I should get and such? Thanks..

An A+ Certification is a good move these days, shows you are competent with the basics.

Cool. So after I get that, where could I go looking? I have been looking all over sites like monster.com and such.

Beware of monster, their database has been compromised.

As far as where to go after an A+ cert? Checkout the Microsoft site. They have plenty of advise and online stuff for MS certs.

My dad is in a computer based job and he hates it.

He's head of Europe sales or something like that or a sales manager - not entirely sure of his full title!

For those who know about computers, he works for a company called "Pegasystems" (Pega for short) who are based in Boston and they supply BPM software to loads of people such as HSBC, Vodafone, Deutsche Telecomme.

But then I guess if you like it that will be a different appraoch. Which areas of computing are you interested in?
