I drive a Scion tc. It's great because it's a much bigger sized 4-cyl engine than usual. It runs like a 6-cyl but gets gas mileage and insurance rates that the 4-cyl do.

My car is a Pug' 406 D9 diesel , 2litre, none turbo. It's a 90bhp version, but seems extremely lively for such a big car with a fairly low powered engine. It's an ex-police car though (a pool fleet car, not traffic division), which makes me wonder if it might have been re-mapped.

My daily drive at work is this,

A Mercedes Actros 2548, which I drive back and forth between Scotland and Germany or Switzerland weekly.

My toy is this,

A 1980 Honda CB 900 FB.
Not a retro bike, but one of the bikes that retro style bikes are supposed to look like

That is one hell of a nice looking 29 year old bike. you have certainlky gotten your money's worth out of it if you bought it new. Of course it isn't a Harley.............. LOL

Thanks Bubba.
Happily I'm not so old that my reactions have slowed enough for me to need to downgrade to a Harley, yet .

I didn't buy it new, but as I can afford it, or have to, I've been sorting out all the little problems.
It looked more or less like that when I bought it. It's all the butchering you can't see which I've been doing.
It's actually a hybrid. It left Honda's factory as a 750 FA.
A previous owner upgraded it to a 900 FB by fitting the bigger engines top end and oil cooler. They also fitted the FB air assisted front end and twin pot brake callipers all round.
The 750s and 900s all had the same frame and engine bottom end.
There were many shared parts across a years bike range, unfortunately I don't know which bits came from which bike/year. That's caused many problems .
It passes it's annual roadworthiness test every year though.
It still does 0 - 60mph in --- 'hell, I'm over the ton' (licence loser, in UK)
And stops just as well

what do you think of the actros? my uncle sometimes drives an actros and it seems much better built and and more comfortable than the mack tridents and metro-liners he normally drives.

I suppose I'm the only one with something really boring, but I've just bought a Nissan Note Acenta - brand new - all black. There's only 3 of us and I get the train to work so we don't do that much mileage. Traded in a 3 year old Almera SX - only had 22,000 miles on the clock. What I really like is the Bluetooth and mp3 connection...

Just damn. Ya'll Europeans just don't know what riding a bike is all about........ when you get there at the speed of light on your rice rocket, tell them I'll be there in a minute in style.... they'll hear me coming. LOL.

EDIT: Oh and what Server said about that truck. (A lorry IS what we Yanks call a truck right?)

Sounds like you know your way around a wrench. nice trait for someone on a computer forum. You've done a nice job on that puppy.

Glas: I'm jealous. I live in Atlanta and we have NO reliable mass transit. LOL 22,000 on a 3 year old car? I cover stockcar racing for a website, I average more than 1500 miles a week...............

That depends on if the truck your talking about is a lorry, or if its a pick-up, Bubba.

I call my Merc Actros lorry, a truck.
But I keep reading and hearing about trucks when what they mean is a pick-up.

I've been driving that Actros for almost 3 years, I got it new with 899 on the clock. When I parked up in the yard on Thursday it had just under 300,000 on the clock. I'll take it over that next week.
So far it's run pretty well, no major problems and nothings fallen off.
We usually run at 38 tonnes, about 90,000lbs I think that is.
Anywhere else in the UK, my truck would be run at 44 tonnes, about 96,000lbs.
Thats max gross weight (truck and load, if you didn't know and wondered what I'm on about)
Unfortunately, in Europe, we have to have a speed limiter which has to be set not to allow a powered speed of more than 90 km/h or 56 miles per hour.

wow. only 90km/h.
semi's and b-doubles are supposed to limited to 100km/h in Aus. (not sure about road trains)
but any of the guys that do intersate take that off, seen a video of my uncle doing 140km/h (87 mph) at 3am in a semi (450hp W.Star) and a b-double came flying past him at around 160km/h (100mph). hard to believe something over between 50 and 80 tonnes can move so quick.

are there many b-doubles, b-triples or road trains around europe of america? some get close to 200 tonnes over here, thats almost 440,000lbs

Erm I don't think road trains would me much use round here..

We have trouble getting 44 tonners around the lanes, let alone a road train!

Yeah, local train service is actually pretty good. I'm only about 8 miles south of the city centre, so the train takes about 15 minutes. I'm 10 minutes walk from the station and 5 minutes walk to my office, so total travelling time is 30 minutes.

They've made driving in Glasgow city centre nearly impossible these days - all bus lanes and one way streets - I only rarely drive in town...

Close serverguy, but no coconut .
Holland, Belgium, France and Germany have been experimenting with 25.25metre long trucks, called LHVs (Longer Heavier Vehicles ) for several years. Our standard 44t artic trucks are 16.5 metres by the way.
There was a proposal by two UK companies, who had already built experimental LHVs, suitable for trials on UK trunk roads.
- a link to a youtube video of the Denby set up. The other company was Stan Robinson.
The UKs Department of Transport refused to even allow a very limited experiment, let alone proper trials.
These could only be used on major trunk roads and motorways.
