and if its only seen track work i'd get a good mechanic to check the thing over, track work isn't the best thing for an engine and if its only $30,000 then there could be a very good reason for that that the owner figured isn't worth fixing, like it could need new pistons, the head could be cracked or on its way to being cracked, or it could need a complete re build.
not trying to put you off, just telling you to be wary

Dont worry. Shes been more than well maintained. In fact, a Lotus Exige engine is actually hard to brake.Shes meant for great handling, Especially for the track. And this wont be my first car, so I wont have to worry about insuring her just yet. However, it cost a lot less than the Lotus Esprit i was originally guna get. The Elise/Exige are the worlds most affordable exotic cars, so its really no wonder why a used one isnt so expensive. and i wont be using her every day. Shes not a car designed for an "every day driver" nor will she be riding on days where it rains and shows. They normally come with racing tires, which to be quite frank, is suicide on wet ground since they are about the closest legal thing to racing slicks. I could get snow tires, but I figure its best to drive a nice car when the conditions are right for it, and drive another thats better suited to any other conditions. I'm not guna be stupid about how I drive a car like this. Most of the time I'll be on the track with it myself. Thats mainly what i want her for. Showing off a car like this in public can be annoying...Especially at the gas pump...Plus people do bad things to exotics because of jelliousy. I dont need to deal with that kind of crap. I want her to race, and in case i have a date, show up to her house and take her out in a nice car. Nothing much more. However, my primary car will be a beater. I have no problem with that.

I'll believe it when I see it as they say. I don't want to be mean but I've heard it all before cheeze, I don't know anyone whom was given a Exige track car as their first car, celebs don't even do it, because no insurance company will touch them. Most new drivers have trouble getting insurance for a 850cc mini yet alone something with power and value.

I was told once that for the footballers and similar that want a Ferrari or something for their first car, the insurance cost is about 70K a year..... Yikes.

I guess I will quote myself. Like i said, Im guna drive a junker for a while. When I get to an age where insurance goes down then I will get the Lotus. I wont know when that will be yet, because I am moving soon and depending on where i move will come into play on how much insurance cost. I'm a logical person (most of the time :P) so even I dont want it as a first car. Like most Lotus drivers say,

Quote:
If I had an Exige as my first car, I would be dead right now.
Thats not to say i wont get one. In fact i was at the dealer the other day,the next time i come back I will test drive the Lotus. I have pictures and video of the place and getting to go in the cars. I will post them in a little. i was talking to one of the salesmen and he was telling me a few days before that some girl got a Lambo for her first car. He was just as shocked as anyone.

here we go. took me a while to upload. Its a big file, but If you download it I think you'll find the cars and some commentary rather interesting. This is the Exotic car dealer my step dad goes to. I figure I might buy from here as well. http://files.filefront.com/Lotus+dea.../fileinfo.html
