Default What's a good mid-range Home Theater Receiver ?

I'm not an audiophile, but do enjoy music and video on a quality home theater. I have a 52 in Plasma, 1080i DVD, HD DirecTV w/ TiVO and some game systems. What is a solid receiver that will compliment the HD A/V and produce quality music?I'd like to stay below $500.I've seen some recommendations for Panasonic SA-XR55S and SA-XR57S, but I have no experience w/ Panasonic products.

if i had to go with a receiver at any price range it would be either Yamaha or Denon.I know that Yamaha does offer good enough receivers for less than $500

Yeah, avoid Panasonic. And unless you are aiming at their Flagship models (Well over $1200) avoid Pioneer and Sony.Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha, Marantz all have good A/V receivers in the $500 range.

Panasonic is fine, but I would go with Onkyo. They make excellent products. Yamaha would be my second choice in the price range. You can find Yamaha's on sale all the time. Pioneer is also very good, and probably is the best value for the dollar.
